About The Role

We're looking for a practical and reliable Maintenance Operative to join a well established student accommodation in Wembley. Working alongside 2 Maintenance Operatives, you'll help keep the residential property in safe, clean and well maintained.

This is a hands-on role where you'll carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance across the building. The ideal candidate will have good basic plumbing and electrical skills, enjoy solving problems and take pride in keeping things running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and repairs throughout the building.
  • Complete basic plumbing tasks, including replacing taps, fixing leaks, unblocking sinks and repairing toilets.
  • Carry out basic electrical work such as changing light fittings, replacing bulbs, switches and sockets (where competent to do so).
  • Undertake minor carpentry repairs, including adjusting doors, replacing locks and carrying out small repairs.
  • Complete basic painting, decorating and patch repairs as required.
  • Inspect communal areas and report any maintenance issues.
  • Keep plant rooms, storage areas and maintenance cupboards tidy and organised.
  • Carry out routine building checks to ensure the property remains safe and well maintained.
  • Support with keeping external areas clean and free from hazards.
  • Assist with setting up rooms and moving furniture or equipment when required.
  • Work safely at all times and follow Health & Safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous experience in a general maintenance or handyman role.
  • Good basic plumbing and electrical skills.
  • Confident using hand and power tools.
  • Able to work independently and use initiative.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Reliable with good timekeeping.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience working in residential property, student accommodation, hotels, facilities management or a similar environment.
  • A qualification or practical experience in plumbing, electrical work or property maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety.
