About Us

Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Plane Tree Court in Stockport. We are CQC-regulated and B Corp certified, and we work in partnership with NHS commissioners and local universities to provide high-quality, person-centred care. We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Operative to help keep Plane Tree Court safe, comfortable and well-maintained for the residents and staff who call it home.

Role Overview

As our Maintenance Operative, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and repair of the building, grounds and equipment at Plane Tree Court. You'll carry out routine maintenance checks, respond to reported repairs, and help ensure the home meets health and safety standards — playing an important behind-the-scenes role in the comfort and wellbeing of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine repairs and general maintenance across the building, fixtures and fittings
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests raised by care and management staff
  • Undertake planned preventative maintenance and basic servicing of equipment
  • Carry out routine health and safety checks (e.g. fire safety equipment, water systems, electrical safety) in line with home procedures
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
  • Support external contractors attending site for specialist works
  • Help maintain the home's grounds and external areas
  • Ensure tools, equipment and materials are stored and used safely
  • Respond to emergency repairs as required to maintain a safe environment for residents and staff

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
