Maintenance Operative
Kerridge House, Macclesfield
£33,000 per annum | Permanent, full time
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, daytime hours
Pinar Care is recruiting an experienced Maintenance Operative for Kerridge House, a 63-bedded complex care and residential care home in Macclesfield. The role will support preparations for the home’s reopening and the ongoing maintenance of its premises, grounds and equipment.
You will undertake planned and reactive maintenance, complete routine safety and compliance checks, and coordinate specialist contractors. Your work will help maintain a safe, comfortable environment for residents, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, minor plumbing, decorating, tiling, repairs to doors and locks, and grounds maintenance.
- Complete and record routine fire safety, water hygiene and building safety checks in accordance with the home’s compliance schedule.
- Undertake visual checks of care equipment and arrange servicing and statutory inspections, including LOLER examinations where applicable.
- Arrange and supervise qualified contractors for specialist repairs, gas and electrical work, lift maintenance and other servicing.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, certificates and a compliance calendar, supporting inspection and audit requirements.
- Assist with recommissioning building systems and establishing maintenance arrangements before the home reopens.
- Work within your competence, follow safe working practices and report defects and risks promptly.

Essential requirements
- At least three years’ practical experience in multi-trade maintenance.
- A recognised trade qualification, such as NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience.
- Experience of routine compliance checks and accurate record keeping, particularly fire safety and water hygiene.
- Experience of coordinating contractors and applying health and safety requirements.
- The ability to organise and prioritise work, respond to urgent repairs and communicate effectively.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota where required.
- A respectful approach to residents, their privacy and their home environment.
- Experience in a care home, healthcare or similar regulated setting is desirable. Relevant water hygiene, fire safety, asbestos awareness or IOSH training would also be an advantage.
