Job Description

Maintenance Operative

Location: Richmond Village Cheltenham, Hatherley Lane, Gloucestershire, GL51 6PN

Salary: From £13.30 per hour & Excellent Benefits

Type: Bank

Shift pattern: 8-4/9-5 Monday - Sunday

About the Role

As a Maintenance Operative, your primary responsibility will be ensuring that our facilities remain fully functional. You will maintain buildings and equipment effectively while complying with all relevant Bupa Standard Operating Procedures, legislation, and industry best practices. Your role is crucial in ensuring our accommodation meets Bupa’s cultural and brand values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all maintenance and repair tasks are completed to a high standard with minimal disruption to our residents and visitors, including the maintenance of offices, workshops, and plant rooms
  • Carrying out ad-hoc internal decoration of all accessible areas as indicated, ensuring it’s maintained to a high standard
  • Reporting unrepairable defects to management, escalating, or seeking specialist repair if required
  • Liaising with, and supporting, our care home-based Maintenance Operatives, including assisting with the induction and training of new starters
  • Ensuring that all health and safety and compliance checks are carried to deadlines, and all policies and guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Working on call as and when required to support our care home outside of hours
  • Collecting and delivering items of equipment to and from the village as required using company vehicles
  • Carrying out scheduled checks on company vehicles, ensuring all documentation is in order and that vehicles are cleaned and have an adequate supply of fuel
  • Reporting any vehicle defects and investigating and documenting the findings as required
  • Completing journey logs after each use and monitoring Tax and MOT expiry dates, informing the Administrator near due dates

Essential Skills / Qualifications

  • A full driving licence is essential (Clean)
  • Friendly and approachable, you’ll have a good understanding of building services including heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, and plumbing.
  • You understand the importance of maintaining high standards and have knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and compliance. You can work flexibly to meet demands and you’re always happy to help the wider team.
  • You’ll enjoy working with others and building relationships with our residents.
