Maintenance Operative – Health & Fitness Facilities

About the Role

A leading premium health and wellness organisation is seeking a Maintenance Operative to help maintain a safe, well-functioning, and welcoming environment across its fitness and leisure facilities.

The role is responsible for ensuring equipment, facilities, and essential systems remain operational, with a strong focus on safety, preventative maintenance, and the overall member experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep across the facility.
  • Ensure equipment and building systems remain safe, operational, and well maintained.
  • Identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
  • Support the safe operation of facilities and equipment.
  • Carry out basic technical work across areas such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Help maintain a high standard of presentation and functionality across the club.
  • Support compliance with health, safety, and operational standards.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to minimise disruption to members.
  • Maintain a strong focus on member safety and customer experience.
  • Travel between facilities within the region when required.

Requirements

  • Practical technical skills or qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as:
    • Carpentry
    • Plumbing
    • Single-phase electrical work
    • Pool Plant Operator qualification such as STA or equivalent.
  • Full driving licence or the ability to travel efficiently between facilities within the region.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good active-listening skills.
  • Reliable, practical, and safety-conscious approach.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
