Maintenance Operative

Location: Sunderland, Cloud Student Homes, UK

Reporting to: Accommodation Manager

Hours of Work: 40 hours a week.

Salary: £14.00 per hour

Introduction

Cloud Student Homes is a national provider of Purpose-Built Student Accommodation in England. We focus on providing our students with more than ‘just’ their accommodation, providing the safety, security and social aspect of University life.

The role of a Maintenance Operative is to manage the maintenance and repair requirements within the building, ensuring a first-class residential and customer experience.

The role is Part time and permanent, requiring general maintenance to include routine equipment inspections and performing any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. Previous experience in care is essential, you should be highly skilled with various hand and power tools and be able to read blueprints and repair instructions. The successful applicant will have a background in building maintenance, good all-around DIY and manual skills, and be ready for work from day one. The role may require you to work in one site or across several student accommodation sites, so a driving licence and car ownership is preferred.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
