Purpose of the Role
Carrying out repairs around the Centre and in the car park as part of the PPM program in a variety of general building maintenance work, as directed by the Senior Operations Manager, to facilitate the efficient running of the Scheme.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes a variety of tasks including the following:
Leadership Skills
- You develop close working relationships with the leadership team to fully understand the needs of the business.
- You support the Leadership Team in driving best practice with all aspects of the job role.
- You work closely with all the operational teams to ensure the best standards are adhered to.
- You promote our operational focus on compliance, communication, consistency, and collaboration in all you deliver.
- You are an ambassador for the Scheme and ensure that you deliver consistently high standards of customer service at all times, thereby promoting a professional and welcoming atmosphere through your exemplary behaviour.

- Adhere to all departmental procedures, schedules, and company policies as outlined in the employment handbook, including HR guidelines, code of conduct, and health and safety requirements.
- Represent Parkgate with integrity and courtesy on every shift. Maintain a professional appearance and deliver fair, efficient, and honest service.
- Comply with health and safety protocols, including the use of PPE and adherence to COSHH, clinical waste, and sharps policies.
- Communicate with team members and colleagues effectively to support seamless department operations and improve teamwork. Attend briefings and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Respond to customer queries, complaints, and compliments with a helpful attitude, and take on any additional tasks assigned by the leadership team as needed.
- Support corporate responsibility objectives including personal support to community projects and activities.

Maintenance Duties
- Detect and carry out general maintenance tasks, repairs to fabric and finishes, throughout the Centre.
- Carry out any painting and decorating work in the Centre and car park – internal and external.
- Carry out any jetwashing (low and ladder level) work in the Centre and car park – externally.
- Carry out general repair work, plumbing, brickwork, and minor surface repairs, reporting any issues requiring attention or work to be carried out to the Senior Operations Manager and Operational Support Supervisor.
- Detect problem, plant-fix, where appropriate, or report to the Senior Operations Manager and Operational Support Supervisor.
- Changing light bulbs, lamps, and fittings, in the Centre or car park.
- Report defects (equipment, building, lighting, and fabric) to the Senior Operations Manager and Operational Support Supervisor.
- Provide support and assistance to PPM and other contractors on site.
- Maintain the on-site workshop and all tools and equipment in good working order.
- Able to work weekends and Bank Holidays to provide maintenance cover for the Centre.
- To perform any other related activity, as directed by the leadership team, necessary to fulfil the purpose of the role as described above.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Person Specification
- You must be physically capable of handling heavy equipment and perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and pushing.
- A positive and approachable manner. Friendly, confident, and adaptable, with a willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
- The capacity to be self-motivated with strong organisational skills and initiative to complete tasks independently.
- The ability to be an effective communicator, with good verbal and written communication skills, with a supportive, team-oriented mindset.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- 1 to 3 years’ proven experience working as a maintenance person or a role with transferable abilities within another field.
- Knowledge of chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to maintenance functions, COSHH, Manual Handling, PPE, etc.
Desirable
- City & Guilds 2377-77 Level 3 (In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment)
Working Hours
- Part-Time 18 hours
- Core Hours: Monday 6am-12.30pm, Wednesday 6am-12.30pm, Friday 6am-12:30pm (30 minute breaks)
Whilst the core hours are set above, the successful applicant should have a degree of flexibility and be able to work occasional additional hours in line with the needs of the business.
Salary
- £15,000 p/a
