Maintenance Operative
AASC – Peterborough
Full-time role (37.5 hours per week)
About the Role
We work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services (AASC) to care for individuals within the asylum system, providing temporary housing and support.
As a Maintenance Operative, you will ensure all repairs—both reactive and proactive (including pre-planned work approved by your manager)—are completed to the required standard and within our Service Level Agreement (SLA) deadlines. Based in Wigan, this role requires keeping facilities operational, flexible problem-solving, and a strong focus on Health & Safety.
You’ll manage your own workload while also collaborating as part of a team. Ideal for someone with practical maintenance experience, such as in joinery, plumbing, decorating, or fitting, who takes responsibility for their tasks and prioritises outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out repaired and maintenance tasks efficiently (reactive and planned work).
- Ensure Health & Safety standards are upheld during and after all work is completed.
- Procure materials via a company-approved credit card.
- Maintain a professional, clean, and well-inspected company vehicle.
- Work flexibly within defined hours (Mon–Fri, 08:00–18:00, 7.5 hours/day) or respond to on-call shifts (approx. once every 8–10 weeks).

Requirements
✔ Full UK driving licence (vehicle provided, fuel card included). ✔ Landlord/accommodation maintenance experience (preferably in joinery, plumbing, painting, decorating, or related trades). ✔ Evidence of high motivation and the ability to manage self-directed tasks, as well as teamwork. ✔ Willingness to travel locally and occasionally across the UK. ❗ Security checks are required (including a Home Office clearance), so applications must be submitted promptly.
