Maintenance Person
Pay: Competitive Salary
Contract: Full-Time and Permanent
Location: North East

At Kara Healthcare, we're looking for a hands-on and dependable Maintenance Person to support our care homes across the North East.
You'll play an important role in keeping our homes safe, comfortable, well-maintained, and welcoming for our residents, visitors, and colleagues.
From everyday repairs and general maintenance to helping keep our buildings and facilities in good condition, you'll be someone our teams can count on to get things done.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Maintenance Person, you'll be responsible for carrying out general maintenance and repairs across our care services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out general repairs and maintenance around our care homes.
- Responding to maintenance requests and resolving issues promptly.
- Completing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decorating, and general repair work where competent.
- Carrying out regular checks of the building, equipment, fixtures, and fittings.
- Identifying potential maintenance issues before they become bigger problems.
- Keeping communal areas, bedrooms, gardens, and other areas of the home well maintained.
- Supporting the team with planned preventative maintenance.
- Helping ensure the environment is safe, clean, comfortable, and suitable for residents.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work completed.
- Reporting larger or specialist repairs when external contractors are required.
- Working with contractors and suppliers when necessary.
- Ensuring maintenance work is carried out safely and in line with relevant procedures.
- Supporting health and safety checks and helping maintain compliance.
- Responding to urgent maintenance issues when required.
- Helping with the setup and maintenance of rooms, equipment, and facilities.
- Working closely with Home Managers and care teams to understand and resolve maintenance needs.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is practical, hardworking, and takes pride in doing a good job.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities, or similar role.
- Good practical and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence carrying out general repairs and maintenance.
- A good understanding of health and safety.
- The ability to identify issues and find practical solutions.
- Good attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Good communication skills and a friendly approach.
- A reliable and flexible attitude.
- The ability to work respectfully within a care home environment.

Relevant maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or trade qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
Experience working in a care home, healthcare, hospitality, housing, or facilities environment would also be beneficial.
