Maintenance Person – Elderly Care Home
Location: Ilford, London
Salary: £16.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm or 9:00am–5:00pm
Contract: Full-time
About The Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Maintenance Person to join the maintenance team at a large, well-established elderly care home in Ilford, London.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong work ethic and understands the importance of maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for elderly residents.
You will work as part of an established Maintenance Team, helping to ensure the building, facilities, equipment and grounds are maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs throughout the care home.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure issues are dealt with efficiently.
- Undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and general building maintenance.
- Carry out routine checks and preventative maintenance.
- Identify and report any health and safety concerns.
- Assist with maintaining communal areas, residents' rooms and other areas of the home.
- Work alongside the existing Maintenance Team to ensure the care home is maintained to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and report any issues requiring specialist attention.
- Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and care home policies.
- Ensure all work is carried out with consideration for the safety, dignity and wellbeing of residents.

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a maintenance role within a care home, nursing home, residential home or similar environment.
- A strong practical knowledge of general building maintenance and repairs.
- Excellent work ethic, reliability and timekeeping.
- A proactive approach and the ability to identify problems and resolve them effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A professional, respectful and approachable manner when working around elderly residents.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work independently when required.
- A flexible and positive attitude.
