Help keep military aviation mission ready

At Babcock, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Maintenance Pilot.

The role

As a Maintenance Pilot, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a highly autonomous position requiring significant military aviation experience and a thorough understanding of operating from both military and civilian airfields. Your flying expertise will play a vital role in maintaining aircraft readiness and supporting operational commitments across the UK.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Conducting aircraft delivery and positioning flights to maintenance and training locations.
  • Operating safely and effectively from military and civilian airfields.
  • Maintaining compliance with aviation regulations, operating procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Supporting aircraft availability through the timely completion of flying tasks.
  • Collaborating with operational, training, and maintenance stakeholders to achieve programme objectives.

This role is based primarily at RAF Cranwell, with duties also supporting RAF Wittering and other LAFT locations as required. The position operates on a zero-hours contract and may require travel and occasional overnight stays in support of operational tasking.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
