Your new role
The Maintenance Planning Manager is accountable for the development, ownership, implementation, governance, and continual improvement of the organisation's Maintenance Strategy and Maintenance Management Framework. The role acts as the critical link between Asset Management, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance Delivery, Supply Chain, and Commercial functions, ensuring maintenance requirements are translated into executable maintenance activities that protect asset performance, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and customer service outcomes.
The role provides end-to-end accountability for maintenance strategy, maintenance planning standards, governance, maintenance requirements definition, work management standards, maintenance assurance, planning quality, supply chain readiness, and maintenance performance reporting. The role ensures maintenance activities are delivered safely, compliantly, efficiently, and to the required quality standard, whilst driving continual improvements in asset reliability, performance, and value for money.
The successful candidate will have an excellent opportunity to develop the function, implement change, and drive continuous improvement across maintenance planning and statutory maintenance.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Maintenance Planning and Statutory Maintenance teams, with responsibility for a team of 7 direct reports.
- Establish a high-performing, customer-focused, and improvement-driven culture.
- Build capability, succession plans, and technical excellence across the function.
- Manage budgets, resources, and priorities to deliver business objectives.
- Develop strong relationships across Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, Capital Delivery, Procurement, Commercial, and Supply Chain functions.
- Influence and engage senior stakeholders to secure support for maintenance priorities and strategic objectives.
- Act as the senior maintenance planning and governance subject-matter expert for the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Asset Management, Maintenance Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar maintenance, engineering, asset management, reliability, or maintenance planning role.
- Significant leadership experience within maintenance, reliability, asset management, engineering, utilities, manufacturing, infrastructure, transportation, energy, or another asset-intensive industry.
- Demonstrable experience developing and implementing maintenance strategies.
- Experience leading maintenance planning, statutory maintenance, maintenance governance, or work management functions.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and reliability best practice, maintenance optimisation, compliance management, and asset management principles.
- Experience using SAP, EAM, CMMS, or equivalent asset and maintenance management systems.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and implementing organisational change and improvement initiatives.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and delivering cross-functional improvement programmes.
- Experience working with contractors, outsourced service providers, and supply chain frameworks.

What you'll get in return
- 9-month+ interim contract
- £350-£450 Per day UMBRELLA
- Weekly Pay
- Potential opportunity to become permanent for the right person
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- Some travel between sites will be required as part of the role
- Business mileage will be covered
