About This Role
Are you an experienced Service Controller, Fleet Controller or Service Coordinator looking for a role where organisation, customer service and keeping equipment moving really matter? As a Service Controller within Dawsongroup EMC, you will coordinate planned maintenance, breakdowns and repairs across our workshop, mobile engineers and third party repair network, helping keep our hire fleet safe, compliant and available for customers.
- Plan and schedule servicing, repairs and compliance events, balancing customer requirements with fleet availability.
- Coordinate workshop, mobile and third party engineering activity, keeping customers informed with clear and timely updates.
- Authorise repair work and control maintenance expenditure while ensuring safety, legislative requirements and manufacturer recommendations remain the priority.
- Maintain accurate service histories, repair updates, VOR information and maintenance records within our computerised systems.
- Work closely with Rental Operations, technical support, stores and suppliers to keep jobs progressing and minimise equipment downtime.
About You
Previous experience within service control, fleet maintenance, engineering coordination or a similar environment is important, but we are interested in what you can bring rather than how many years you have spent doing it. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, communicating with customers and suppliers, and making considered decisions when plans change.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
