Maintenance Supervisor | Colchester area | up to £35,000 + up to 20% Bonus
We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to join a specialist manufacturing and repurposing operation in the Colchester area.
This is a varied role combining mechanical maintenance, plant operations, and team leadership. You will supervise the plant team, coordinate day-to-day operations, and take responsibility for keeping a range of industrial processing machinery running safely and efficiently.
The Role
- Supervise and allocate work to plant operators and maintenance staff
- Manage and develop planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Carry out hands-on mechanical repairs, servicing, and fault finding
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Oversee processing, conveying, sorting, and size-reduction equipment
- Monitor machinery condition and minimise breakdowns and production downtime
- Maintain maintenance records and manage critical spare parts
- Support improvements to plant reliability, efficiency, and throughput
- Train and support team members in safe machinery operation and site procedures

About You
You will have a strong practical mechanical, engineering, or plant maintenance background, ideally with previous supervisory or team-leading experience.
Experience in manufacturing, recycling, waste, heavy industry, or a similar environment would be beneficial.
You Should Have
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience managing or working with PPM schedules
- Previous experience supervising or leading a team
- A strong focus on health and safety
- Good organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills

Experience with GRP, fibreglass, composites, or abrasive materials would be advantageous, as would welding/fabrication, basic electrical skills, or plant operating qualifications. Full training will be provided on the company's machinery and processes.

- Up to £42,000 total package with potential bonus up to 20%
