Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day maintenance operation on site, ensuring reactive, planned, and compliance maintenance activities are delivered safely and to a high standard while supervising maintenance staff and contractors. The role also involves maintaining statutory compliance, managing resources and budgets, and supporting continuous improvement to enhance the site, assets, and resident experience.

An organisation within the education sector located in Oxford looking to add a Maintenance Supervisor to their estates team.

Description

  • Lead and supervise maintenance teams and contractors to deliver high-quality maintenance services.
  • Manage reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and statutory compliance activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with health and safety legislation, safe systems of work, permits, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor service delivery performance and ensure maintenance tasks are completed within agreed service levels.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities using CAFM systems and work closely with the help-desk function.
  • Support team development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Manage maintenance resources, materials, stock control, and subcontractor activities effectively.
  • Identify recurring issues and implement practical improvements to enhance asset performance and service delivery.
  • Support sustainability initiatives through efficient resource use and energy-conscious maintenance practices.
  • Participate in emergency call-outs and escalation rotas when required.

A successful Maintenance Supervisor should have:

  • Level 2 City & Guilds Plumbing and Heating.
  • Practical knowledge of fire safety, asbestos awareness, and water hygiene compliance.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of PPM programmes and reactive maintenance processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing contractors and coordinating maintenance activities through a CAFM system.
