An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Fuel Cycle Area (FCA) Infrastructure Programme for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader
This is a key role with responsibility for managing multiple mechanical teams and ensuring maintenance, engineering and project activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest professional standards.
You’ll combine your mechanical expertise with strong people management, coordinating resources, resolving technical challenges and driving high standards across maintenance delivery. What You'll Be Doing
As Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, you’ll provide effective leadership and technical oversight across a range of mechanical maintenance and project activities. You’ll ensure teams have the resources, direction and support needed to deliver work safely and efficiently, while maintaining compliance with maintenance schedules, procedures, legislation and site requirements. Working closely with engineering colleagues, stakeholders, suppliers and manufacturers, you’ll help resolve technical issues, improve equipment performance and ensure consistently high standards of maintenance delivery.
- Manage and develop multiple mechanical teams, providing effective line management while promoting a positive culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and high performance.
- Drive safe and efficient maintenance delivery, monitoring planned maintenance and defect rectification, ensuring schedules are achieved and diagnostic techniques are used effectively to identify and resolve plant, system and component faults.
- Provide technical leadership and assurance, approving maintenance procedures, supporting technical specifications, ensuring fit-for-purpose job reports are produced and overseeing the professional delivery of contract and project work.
- Improve performance and reliability, working with engineers, stakeholders and suppliers to resolve maintenance challenges, identify resource requirements and address equipment performance and obsolescence issues, while maintaining appropriate safety, security and environmental arrangements.

What You'll Bring
We’re looking for an accomplished mechanical maintenance professional who can combine strong technical expertise with confident and supportive leadership. You’ll be comfortable managing teams and competing priorities, making informed decisions and taking ownership of delivery, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Mechanical Apprenticeship with an HNC in Engineering, or equivalent qualifications supported by relevant experience.
- Extensive mechanical maintenance experience, with the technical knowledge and judgement to oversee complex maintenance activities and resolve operational issues.
- Proven line management experience, with the ability to lead, motivate and support teams to deliver against operational and maintenance priorities.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively with engineers, stakeholders, suppliers and contractors.
