Maintenance Technician
Location: Siemens, Congleton
Contract: Ongoing Contract - 6 months initial
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8-hour shifts)
Pay Rate: £18.90 per hour PAYE (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance team at Siemens in Congleton. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically and mechanically minded engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about reliability, continuous improvement, and emerging technologies.
As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment through effective fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Breakdown Recovery
- Lead rapid electrical and mechanical diagnostics and repairs.
- Minimise production downtime through effective troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Safety & Compliance
- Carry out Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Undertake dynamic risk assessments for all maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, and compliance requirements.

Reliability & Root Cause Analysis
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and eliminate recurring failures.
- Accurately record maintenance activities and findings within the CMMS system.
- Support plant reliability improvements through data-driven decision making.

Predictive Maintenance
- Utilise AI-driven monitoring systems and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Support the transition from reactive maintenance to a proactive maintenance culture.

Continuous Improvement
- Develop and deliver technical 'One Point Lessons'.
- Support energy efficiency and sustainability projects.
- Contribute to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
Technical Skills
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
- Methodical approach to diagnostics and problem solving.
- Good PC literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.
- PLC knowledge would be advantageous.
Manufacturing & Industry Knowledge
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of 7S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Interest in Industry 4.0 technologies, including Robotics, Data Analytics, and AI-integrated systems.

Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Personal Attributes
- Self-motivated and organised.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible approach to working patterns, including weekends, overtime, shift rotations, and occasional night shifts.
Rates & Overtime
- Standard Rate: £18.90 per hour PAYE (dependent on experience)
- Weekday Overtime: 133% (Time and One Third)
- Saturday: 150% (Time and a Half)
- Sunday: 200% (Double Time)
- Night Shift Premium: +50%
Compliance Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to provide:
- Full 5-year employment history
- Right to work documentation
- Any additional site-specific compliance documentation as required
