Mechanical Bias Maintenance Technician
Location: Thirsk, North Yorkshire
Salary: From £17.17 per hour + Overtime opportunities
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Bias Maintenance Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business operating across a range of industries including pharmaceutical, agricultural, agrochemical, horticultural, and fine chemical sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Technician with a strong mechanical background who is comfortable working within a multi-skilled maintenance environment.
The Role
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and reliable operation of plant and equipment across the site. The role will have a strong mechanical focus while also involving some electrical maintenance and fault finding.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance across plant and machinery
- Responding to breakdowns and completing reactive maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs
- Repairing and replacing defective components
- Maintaining equipment including motors, valves, and associated machinery
- Installing new machinery and equipment when required
- Monitoring machinery to ensure equipment is operating correctly
- Carrying out welding and fabrication repairs where required
- Reading and interpreting schematics to assist with fault finding
- Supporting basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintaining appropriate levels of maintenance spares
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with site Health & Safety procedures, permits, and risk assessments

About You
- Previous experience within a maintenance or engineering role
- A strong mechanical maintenance background
- Experience working with both mechanical and electrical equipment
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Welding experience
- The ability to interpret engineering schematics
- A proactive and hands-on approach to maintenance
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good communication and basic computer skills
- A flexible approach, including willingness to work occasional weekends when required
- Willingness to work at height and in confined spaces when required
- Previous experience supervising maintenance activities would be advantageous but is not essential.
