About the Company
Avondale Foods is a leading food processing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses such as Marks & Spencer, Morrison’s and Waitrose in the UK.
About the Role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the efficiency of the department (22-person team) by ensuring that the required quantity of work tasks is completed to plan, in a timely manner, to a high standard and in the correct priority and to suggest and implement improvements. To carry out reactive maintenance, PPM, completion of worklist jobs, project work and site service/utility works across the site and to ensure that equipment is functioning as a priority service to production. To lead by example and ensure that you and your team are adhering to company policies and procedures in relation to Product Quality, Food Safety and Integrity.

Working Hours
- Core Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00-16:30
- Evening Cover: Cover to 20:00 (typically one evening every fortnight)
- Weekend Cover: 20 days per year (option to take day in lieu)
- Night Shift Cover: Sunday to Thursday 20:00-08:00 (Approximately 10 weeks of the year)
- Weekend on call: Friday and Saturday (approx 5 per year)
This rota is planned on a yearly basis and divided as equally as possible
Key Responsibilities
- Reactive maintenance tasks (breakdowns, machine set up etc)
- Planned preventative maintenance jobs (550 items to yearly plan)
- Complete general worklist jobs.
- Work on engineering projects (major CAPEX and smaller types)
- Monitor/work on site services/utilities.
- Completion of work records for above tasks.
- To work in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with company Food Safety and H&S policies and procedures.
- To be/become knowledgeable in all aspects of factory equipment.
- To make improvements to equipment to improve efficiency of operation.
- To do any other reasonable duties as required.
- Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times.
- Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration ‘do the right thing’ approach in all interactions.

Essential Criteria
- Multi-skilled engineering knowledge/competence.
- Able to work on own initiative and part of a team.
- Experience in a food manufacturing business.
- Flexible working hours.
