Maintenance Technician – Ballymena

Salary: £40K-£50K

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Maintenance Technician in Ballymena.

Working as part of the Maintenance team, you will be responsible for keeping a wide range of plant, machinery and site equipment operating safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on role covering mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic systems within a busy manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Technician looking for a stable Monday-to-Friday position with a well-established Northern Ireland manufacturer.

In your new role:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production plant and equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns and complete reactive maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Maintain automated batching plant, mould equipment and production machinery
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
  • Carry out general maintenance across site equipment and installations
  • Maintain and repair forklifts, HGVs, vans and other site vehicles
  • Complete maintenance, quality and Health & Safety records accurately
  • Provide feedback to Maintenance Supervisors on breakdowns, repairs and PPM requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance activities, equipment reliability and working practices
  • Assist with operator training where required
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
  • Report any Health & Safety or quality issues promptly
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the maintenance and production areas

What you will need to succeed:

  • Engineering qualification in Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Fitting or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' maintenance experience
  • Relevant electrical qualification
  • Proven experience working with industrial electrical equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical plant and machinery
  • Good knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team
  • Flexible approach to overtime and wider business requirements
