Maintenance Technician
GMP Recruitment are proud to partner with a leading global manufacturer of innovative packaging solutions. We are recruiting on their behalf for a Maintenance Technician to join their established Maintenance team on a full-time basis, based in Malvern, Worcestershire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Technician with a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (preferably Electrical bias) to join a busy manufacturing environment, supporting the maintenance and repair of production machinery to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
Working Schedule
- Full-time continental shift pattern
- 3 Week Rotating Shift Pattern (WK 1 - 6am-2pm, WK 2 - 2pm-10pm and WK 3 - 10pm-6am)
- Salary £40k + 10% shift allowance and benefits package is available for the successful candidate.
Maintenance Technician - Level 2 Main Duties
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose faults, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Observe machinery in operation and identify root cause failures.
- Dismantle, inspect and replace defective components.
- Test machinery and equipment following repairs to ensure safe operation.
- Repair and recondition machine tools and production equipment.
- Source replacement parts and maintenance consumables when required.
- Maintain accurate records using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control system faults.
- Utilise predictive maintenance techniques to monitor equipment performance.
- Carry out welding and machining activities where required.
- Operate workshop equipment including lathes, grinders, drills and other metalworking machinery.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S throughout the maintenance department.
- Support Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and cost savings.
- Act as a technical point of escalation for junior technicians.
- Assist with training, mentoring and supporting Apprentices and lower-level Maintenance Technicians.
- Work collaboratively with Production and other departments to minimise downtime.
- Occasionally travel to other company sites to provide support or attend training when required.

Maintenance Technician - Level 2 Experience Needed
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, preferably with an Electrical bias. (Essential)
- Technical qualification in an Engineering discipline. (Essential)
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths. (Essential)
- Previous experience within a manufacturing maintenance environment. (Essential)
- Experience within Blown Film Extrusion, Printing or Conversion environments. (Desirable)
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control systems. (Essential)
- Ability to fault find and repair electrical and mechanical equipment. (Essential)
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). (Desirable)
- Competent using Microsoft Office applications. (Essential)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical diagrams. (Essential)
- Experience using measuring instruments and hand/power tools. (Essential)
- Ability to carry out failure analysis and implement corrective actions. (Essential)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance. (Essential)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. (Essential)
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure. (Essential)
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other company sites if required. (Desirable)
