Maintenance Engineer
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Maintenance Engineer.
Working within a fast-paced production environment, you will play a key role in keeping machinery and plant operating safely and efficiently. The role has a strong electrical focus, supported by mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic expertise, with responsibility for both planned and reactive maintenance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served Maintenance Engineer looking to join a team where you can make a direct impact on plant reliability, downtime and continuous improvement.
In your new role:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery, plant equipment and site services.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
- Apply a systematic approach to fault finding to minimise production downtime.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support machinery installations, upgrades, testing and commissioning activities.
- Work closely with Operations and other departments on engineering projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, environmental and food safety requirements.
- Follow safe systems of work and lockout procedures where required.
- Provide technical support across the wider production environment.

What you will need to succeed:
- Time-served apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance or a related discipline.
- Strong electrical maintenance experience with sound mechanical knowledge.
- Previous Maintenance Engineering experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
- Proven experience with both PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Experience fault finding across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with production machinery and plant equipment.
- Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Basic understanding of PLC-controlled equipment, motor inverters and industrial control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritise effectively during breakdown situations.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Commitment to high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Additional electrical or mechanical qualifications.
- Previous experience within food manufacturing or food processing.
- Experience supporting machinery installation and commissioning.
- Experience within a continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environment.
