Are you an experienced Maintenance Technician looking for a hands-on engineering role working with automated equipment and exciting environmental projects?

Yolk Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading SME who have seen recent investment and expansion into new markets. This is an exciting time to join a growing engineering business working on specialist equipment used across a diverse range of production and industrial sectors.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a skilled team, working predominantly within a workshop environment with occasional travel to customer sites across the UK and Europe.

This is what you'll be doing:

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be involved in the build, installation, fault finding, maintenance and commissioning of automated mechanical and electrical systems.

As the equipment is highly automated, we're looking for someone with a solid electrical and controls understanding who can logically fault find and diagnose problems, alongside good practical mechanical skills.

You don't necessarily need to be an electrical specialist, but you will need genuine hands-on electrical competence and be comfortable working with control panels, electrical schematics, multimeters, three-phase equipment and automated systems.

Electrical / Controls:

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics to trace and diagnose faults.
  • Confidently use a multimeter for electrical testing and fault finding.
  • Carry out practical electrical fitting and wiring work.
  • Safely isolate equipment and replace faulty electrical components.
  • Fault find across control panels, three-phase motors, relays, contactors, sensors and associated controls.
  • Work with variable speed drives/inverters, including fault finding, set-up and commissioning with support where required.
  • Fault find PLC-controlled equipment, primarily through I/O, signals and diagnostics rather than programming.
  • Support the testing and commissioning of automated equipment both within the workshop and on customer sites.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
