As part of our mission to Get, Grow, and Keep Great People, we're continuing to strengthen the way we deliver safe, compliant and high-quality services across our estate.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and customer-focused Maintenance Technician (Electrical) to join our Southwest team on a permanent contract. This role is ideal for an experienced electrician who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and making a real difference within healthcare environments that support patients and communities every day.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Technician (Electrical), you'll play a key role in maintaining the safety, functionality and compliance of a varied NHS property portfolio across the Southwest. You'll carry out a range of planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and fault-finding activities across electrical systems, ensuring our healthcare properties remain operational and compliant.
The role will predominantly cover areas including Dorset, Bristol, Bath & Northeast Somerset and Wiltshire, with Southwest House acting as the base location. You'll work closely with colleagues across the wider Property Services team to deliver a responsive, professional and customer-focused maintenance service.
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills. You'll regularly interact with site teams and healthcare colleagues, making relationship-building and communication just as important as technical expertise.
Who You Are
You are a qualified electrician who takes pride in delivering a high standard of work. You're proactive, dependable and solution-focused, with the ability to manage your own workload effectively while working as part of a wider team. You enjoy problem solving, are committed to safety and compliance, and understand the importance of providing excellent service to customers and stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
