The Role

Parkhead Hub Estates Department is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, resilient, and hardworking Mechanical Multi Skilled Technician to join the team. The postholder will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of building services plant and equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of essential mechanical services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde healthcare facilities. The role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care through effective estates maintenance, repair, and installation services that provide value for money and operational excellence.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Permanent, full-time, 36 hours per week
  • Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:00, Friday 08:00 - 14:30
  • Base location: Parkhead Hub

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and support in the operation and maintenance of building services.
  • Maintain safe and efficient systems of work across all building services.
  • Deliver planned maintenance, repair, and installation services for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Inspect plant and machinery, diagnose faults, and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Liaise with managers and department heads regarding the impact of faults on wards, theatres, patients, and services.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and complete all associated documentation and records.
  • Work in accordance with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health and Safety policies and SHTM procedures.
  • Undertake minor alterations and modifications to existing services.
  • Organise and manage daily workload and priorities effectively.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications, and/or Experience Required

  • Recognised and registered EITB or CITB Craft Apprenticeship (or equivalent) or appropriate City & Guilds qualification.
  • Extensive relevant experience in building maintenance as a competent tradesperson.
  • Previous experience within a healthcare environment is desirable.
  • HNC qualification (or equivalent) in a core subject is essential.
  • Additional qualifications relevant to non-core skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of building services maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair techniques, and health and safety procedures.
