Astute’s Power Team Recruitment for Waste Management Company

Astute’s Power Team are working with a leading Waste Management company to recruit a multi-skilled maintenance technician to join a recycling process facility in Wrexham.

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across both mechanical and electrical equipment.

Shift Schedule

This role covers a 2 shift system working:

  • 6am – 2pm
  • 2pm – 10pm

Additionally, there is an extra 6 hours every other Saturday as overtime (6am -12pm).

Responsibilities And Duties

As the Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Supporting with breakdown repairs to maximise plant availability.
  • Carrying out plant inspections to ensure plant safety.
  • Reporting and investigating breakdowns, incidents, damage and faults.
  • Supporting with process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring all work is in accordance with health, safety and environmental standards and compliance.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Ideally apprenticeship trained in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering field.
  • Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification.
  • IOSH would be advantageous.

Personal Skills

The Maintenance Technician role would suit someone with:

  • At least three years experience post apprenticeship.
  • Hands on experience with electrical assets including PLC’s, drives, motors, inverters etc.
  • Hands on experience with mechanical assets including conveyors, balers, trommels, belts, gearboxes etc.
  • Competent with IT systems including maintenance systems (CMMS).
  • Able to work mixture of early and late shifts and occasional weekend work.
