The Role
As a time-served Plumber qualified to HNC level, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality Estates maintenance service across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Your primary focus will be undertaking plumbing maintenance and repairs while supporting the Estates Manager with all aspects of water compliance and maintenance.
Working within a multi-skilled technical team, you will provide specialist technical expertise across a range of building services, including plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems. The role also includes supporting the training and development of apprentices and adult trainees, helping to ensure they gain the skills and experience required to successfully complete their training programmes.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
This is a permanent post working 36 hours per week, these hours will be worked day shift Monday to Friday. This post will be based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a wide range of plumbing maintenance and repair work.
- Support the Estates Manager in maintaining water safety and compliance across the estate.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary technical team to undertake specialist maintenance activities relating to plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems.
- Accept cross-trade responsibilities to ensure the efficient delivery of Estates services.
- Contribute to maintaining statutory compliance, deliver high standards of workmanship, and support service continuity across NHS facilities.
- Assist with the training, supervision and development of apprentices and adult trainees.
- Work alongside managers to develop appropriate training programmes and ensure learners gain the practical skills and experience required to meet the objectives of their apprenticeship or training pathway.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required
- Time-served Plumber with an HNC qualification.
- Sufficient post-apprenticeship experience in plumbing maintenance.
- Knowledge of water compliance and maintenance requirements.
- Experience working across building services, including plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems.
- Ability to undertake a wide range of cross-trade duties within a multi-skilled Estates team.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting or mentoring apprentices and trainees is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively with managers to develop and deliver training programmes.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and statutory compliance.
