Maintenance Technician

Location: Rotherham

Salary: £30,834.89 + company vehicle and fuel card

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours

42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician based at our Rotherham branch, you will carry out loft insulation installations, general maintenance repairs, and minor remedial works across occupied and void properties. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll help improve homes, deliver excellent customer service, and ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

Role Responsibilities

  • Install loft insulation in occupied and void residential properties.
  • Assess loft spaces and prepare areas for insulation and maintenance works.
  • Lay, top up, replace, or remove insulation materials to meet required standards.
  • Install loft boarding, access hatches, and ventilation systems where required.
  • Carry out general maintenance, repair, and improvement works across residential properties.
  • Complete minor carpentry, patch plastering, decorating, tiling, and basic plumbing repairs as required.
  • Diagnose and rectify minor property defects, ensuring homes remain safe and well maintained.
  • Carry out minor remedial works before, during, and following installation or maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Work safely in confined spaces, at height, and in a variety of working environments.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, keeping them informed throughout the works.
  • Accurately record completed work, materials used, and any follow-up actions required.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and clean condition.
  • Identify defects, damp, condensation, ventilation issues, and repair requirements, reporting them appropriately.
  • Deliver high standards of workmanship, customer service, and first-time fixes wherever possible.
  • Support wider property maintenance programmes and respond to planned and reactive maintenance requirements as needed.

Key Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a general maintenance, property repairs, construction, or building environment.
  • Willingness to learn loft insulation installation techniques and related property improvement works.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work at height, in confined spaces, and within occupied and void properties.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify property defects and maintenance issues.
  • Good communication and customer service skills when working with residents and colleagues.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
