Maintenance Technician – Residence Inn Edinburgh

Are you a skilled and practical hands-on professional who takes pride in keeping everything running safely and smoothly? We're looking for a dependable and technically capable Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team at Residence Inn Edinburgh.

The details: £13.36ph | Shift Patterns: 10:00-18:30 or 09:00-17:30 | Full-Time (40 Hours)

About the Hotel

Residence Inn Edinburgh is an apartment-style hotel in the heart of the city, located in the vibrant Quartermile area, offering a quiet haven for business and leisure travellers alike. You will develop a deep understanding of the property's unique offering and the markets it operates in.

What You'll Do

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Carry out maintenance and repair work across the property including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and general building repairs
  • Complete preventative maintenance work orders in a timely and high-quality manner
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to identify work required and report findings appropriately
  • Assist with the maintenance of grounds, guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas
  • Safely operate, maintain, and store all hand and power tools, machines, and motor equipment
  • Read and interpret technical instructions, schematics, and blueprints as required
  • Report any maintenance issues that require escalation to the Engineering Manager promptly

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures at all times
  • Use correct PPE and follow the lock out tag out process for all relevant work activities
  • Maintain awareness of and adhere to all regulatory requirements and safety standards
  • Assist in fire protection, safety, and evacuation procedure training for other departments when required
  • Ensure fire equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarm systems are maintained and in good working order
  • Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management immediately
  • Complete all required safety training and certifications

Property Standards

  • Assist in monthly property inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition
  • Support the inspection of guest rooms and common areas to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Help ensure that building and equipment licences and certifications remain current
  • Assist with additional works such as painting, repair work, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment as required
  • Support the management of parts, equipment, and supplies inventory

Guest Experience and Teamwork

  • Contribute to a positive guest experience by ensuring all areas of the hotel are well maintained, safe, and welcoming
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments, responding to maintenance requests promptly and professionally
  • Build positive working relationships with team members and external contractors and vendors
  • Represent the hotel and Marriott brand with professionalism and a customer-first mindset at all times

What We're Looking For

  • At least two years of experience in engineering, maintenance, or a related hands-on role
  • Technical knowledge across one or more of the following areas: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or general building maintenance
  • A relevant technical qualification or training in a related discipline is advantageous
  • A proactive, safety-first approach and working knowledge of relevant safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • The ability to read and follow technical instructions, schematics, and blueprints
  • A reliable, flexible, and team-first attitude with a genuine pride in the quality of your work
