Salary: £45,000.00 per annum plus a 15% night shift allowance and Veolia benefits

Hours: 42 (avg) 12 hours days & nights - 4 on 4 off rotating shifts.

Location: Veolia Shrewsbury PRF, SY1 3TH

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and breakdown maintenance on fixed production plant and machinery.
  • Maintain, repair and replace conveyor systems, including rubber conveyor belts, rollers, idlers, pulleys, drums, bearings, gearboxes and drive units.
  • Complete conveyor belt inspections, tracking, alignment, tensioning and replacement work to maintain safe and reliable operation.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults on conveyors and associated processing equipment, minimising downtime and supporting production targets.
  • Carry out planned shutdown maintenance, component replacements and plant improvement work.
  • Raise defects, complete work orders and accurately record maintenance activity using the site maintenance system.
  • Maintain engineering stores and safety-critical spares to support planned work and breakdown response.
  • Work in line with site Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, including permits to work, isolations, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

What we're looking for:

  • A time-served Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Maintenance Technician, qualified to NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical maintenance experience within a production, manufacturing, processing, waste, recycling, aggregates, quarrying, cement or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Essential experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems, including rubber conveyor belts or rubber-lined conveyors.
  • Practical experience of conveyor components including rollers, idlers, pulleys, drums, bearings, gearboxes, motors, drive systems, chains, sprockets, chutes and scrapers.
  • Experience completing both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Mechanical fault-finding experience across rotating equipment, belt drives, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices, including permit-to-work systems, isolation/LOTO procedures and risk assessments.
  • Basic electrical fault-finding experience is beneficial, but this is a predominantly mechanical role.
