About The Role

Exciting and rewarding opportunities have arisen based on site at HPC near Bridgwater, Somerset for Mechanical, Electrical and C&I Maintenance Technicians to join our growing Maintenance Team.

The Opportunity

The role of the Maintenance Technician sits within the Commissioning Programme as part of the Maintenance Team, reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader.

Prior to fuel delivery and commercial operations, the Maintenance Technicians will be supporting Care and Maintenance (preservation) activities on newly installed plant equipment undergoing commissioning and general plant maintenance supporting the preparation of equipment/systems during construction and fit outs.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be a valued member of the team to ensure the daily operations run smoothly and will contribute to the best possible solutions using your skills.

From the start you will be focused to help underpin the HPC business case safely > 91% Unit availability target using your previous experience of working in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation disciplines.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be required to complete the following roles:

  • Carry out maintenance activities safely, in accordance with procedures. Doing so will require you to update procedures as required and feeding back on issues found with the plant.
  • Carry out reactive, planned, preventative, electro-mechanical maintenance and fault finding.
  • Support various teams on site prior to fuel delivery.
  • Care and Maintenance preservation and rectification activities.
  • Plant Maintenance Instruction authoring/validation.
  • Workshop fit outs and set ups.
  • Maintenance during commissioning.
  • Corrective maintenance.
  • Routine preventative maintenance, based on a reliability centred approach.
  • Working flexibly as well as actively participate in personal performance appraisals and take ownership of delivering personal development plans.
  • Undertake training to upskill to a Light and/or Heavy Mechanical Technician level.
  • Support I&C and Electrical activities if required.
  • Observe and report safety, environmental and plant issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure maintenance activities do not adversely affect the environment.

Who You Are

As a minimum, entrants will have completed a recognised apprenticeship and received NVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation disciplines.

  • Possess a sound working knowledge and understanding of performing routine maintenance activities on light and heavy industrial plant, apparatus, or systems.
  • Demonstrate a good level of engineering judgement and the ability to work safely.

Experience should include:

  • Overhauling various types of valves, pumps, compressors, diesel engines, boilers and drive equipment including V belts, chain drives, couplings and more.
  • Overhauling motors, switchgear and control equipment, HVAC, actuators, lighting and small power, and fault finding on AC/DC electrical systems.
  • Calibrating and overhauling instrumentation equipment (pressure, flow, level, temperature, etc). Setting up and calibrating control valves and associated control circuits, fault finding on control and instrumentation systems.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
