Maison Expert

The mission of the Maison Expert is to embody and elevate the spirit of the Maison Métier within the 166/ Hermès GB. As a specialist grounded in deep technical understanding and a profound appreciation for craftsmanship, bringing to life our objects and homewares, translating complexity into clarity, and precision into poetry and developing the business potential within the Art of Living.

Guiding clients through the world of Maison with warmth, humility and refinement, offering expertise that informs, reassures and inspires. Shaping how the Métier is understood and experienced within the UK: nurturing client curiosity, strengthening team capability, and cultivating an environment where knowledge is shared generously.

Through storytelling, education and quiet mastery, you will contribute to the creation of a world-class Métier presence at Maison 166. Being a custodian of craft able to foster long-term client relationships, elevating colleagues, and ensuring that every encounter with our pieces reflects the artistry and heritage of Hermès.

Business Development and Activation

  • Drive the Maison and Lifestyle business for Hermès GB through proactive identification of new opportunities with clients or for wider interiors projects
  • Contribute to the growth of sales in the Home & Lifestyle Metier and achieve sales goals through a targeted action plan
  • Support architects, designers, interior decorators, and customers throughout their purchasing journey, whether online, in-store, or for a specific project, by offering tailored recommendations and expert advice
  • Work closely with the Client Development Manager to identify new opportunities to expand the Maison business, building and growing the client portfolio, maintaining an updated client list
  • Represent the Maison at key external events, brand moments, and client experiences, delivering expertise, artistry, and storytelling
  • Creating opportunities within store and provide critical support to Maison activations, animations, and client experiences aligned with the house priorities and commercial goals
  • Ownership of an events calendar specifically for Art of Living activities
  • Utilizing the store space as a Showroom for clients

Architects and Design Business

  • Participation and management for fairs and events (e.g. Milan furniture fair, Paris Maison & Object, London Masterpiece)
  • Work on key identified projects:
    • Prepare professional documents (presentations)
    • Advise and bring technical skills
    • Establish quotations
    • Follow-up of the project up to delivery and payment transfers
    • Shipment (incl. export) and insurance management
    • Credential checks for partners and processing Architect and Design orders
    • Liaise with the UK Press team for potential opportunities of adjoining exhibitions
    • Arrange showroom and Maison appointments for A&Ds
    • Visit UK Architect and Design studios to present Hermès collections
    • Annual internal Paris meetings

Client Engagement & Expertise

  • Acting as the primary subsidiary expert for Maison, offering detailed explanations on objects and technical craftsmanship
  • Conveying the artistry of furniture and objects through compelling storytelling rooted in heritage, technique, and client lifestyle
  • Supporting clients in developing a confidence and deeper understanding of the objects, guiding them through selection with integrity and without sales-driven pressure
  • Partnering with Client Relationship Specialists on appointments, personalized follow-ups and long-term client relationship development
  • Develops CAD drawings to support with the proposal of furniture options

Education & Knowledge Sharing

  • Serving as a mentor to colleagues, elevating knowledge across the Maison through coaching, knowledge sharing and day-to-day guidance
  • Supporting the delivery of clear, relevant training on Maison product assortment and selling ceremony
  • Translating technical information into accessible and inspiring narratives for teams and clients
  • Staying current with market developments, collector trends, and innovations within Maison
  • Partner with the Training and Culture Manager to structure and deliver training plans aligned with commercial priorities and product focus
  • Working closely alongside the Metier Manager for Maison

Collaboration & Business Support

  • Providing feedback to Retail Merchandising and leadership teams on client interests, product performance and buying opportunities as well as the processing of orders
  • Working in close proximity with the Sales and Service Support team on client orders, assessing client needs, sourcing alternatives and navigating technical solutions
  • Influencing assortment decisions by sharing meaningful client insights and expertise
  • Supporting in-store activations the Maison Métier, ensuring elevated and informed client experiences
  • Working closely with the wider team to support appointments outside the Maison Métier when required
  • Works closely with the warehouse team on deliveries, stock or quality checks when required
  • Supports with the ‘Art of Living’ for other stores in the subsidiary when necessary
  • Act as a reference point for St Louis and Puiforcat within the Maison and at some points to support with the development of this business, highlighting objects to potential clients
  • Sharing information of new collections to the sales teams
  • Supporting the Training and Culture Manager on the upskilling of team members within Maison
  • Works closely and collaboratively with the Department Manager for Maison Metier
  • Collaboration with the Visual Merchandising team to share new proposals of scenography changes
  • Ensure you’re the wider team are aware of Hermès Horizons projects and the work they undertake, whilst also ensuring that any potential business is followed up and developed
  • Manage complex requests with all project stakeholders to ensure success (dimensions, materials, customisation, availability, etc.) with rigor and elegance

Operational & Technical Support

  • Acting as the go-to reference for detailed specifications, objections handling, and any technical queries
  • Communicating updates on tools and resources to the wider team, ensuring proper understanding and adoption
  • Management of client communication of Maison orders, including follow up, delays, invoices and all other communications

Additional Tasks

  • Maintenance and care of top 200 contacts of A&D (Architects and Designers)
  • Push and maintain other avenues for trade business (such as; relationships with Members clubs, stylists, personal shoppers and department stores)
  • Support with Maison events (i.e. collaborate with press days, fairs and store events)
  • Work in collaboration with the Maison metier in Paris when needed
  • Arrange workshop and showroom visits to Paris
  • Support with A&D contacts for international Maison events

About you

  • Previous experience in a business development or architectural background would be highly beneficial
  • Proven experience within business development
  • Specialist experience within homewares in a luxury retail environment
  • Knowledge of A&D market and upcoming developments
  • In-depth technical knowledge of objects, materials and craftsmanship
  • Very organized, rigorous, and reliable, able to organize work autonomously and to anticipate ahead
  • Experience advising luxury clientele through a human-centric, relationship-led approach
  • Professional with ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Client- and service-oriented, with very strong communication skills
  • Proficient with Excel / IT tools and previous experience of CAD is an advantage

  • This role will be between our office spaces and the shopfloor within our Maison on Bond Street
