Milton Keynes (Hybrid/Field Based) Major Account Manager

The Whittan Group is the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom. Operating through a number of market-leading brands, we design, manufacture and install storage solutions for commercial and industrial environments across the UK and Europe.

We are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Major Account Manager to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with some of the UK's leading businesses, developing strategic customer relationships and delivering innovative warehouse storage and automation solutions.

About The Role

As a Major Account Manager, you will be responsible for driving profitable revenue growth through the development of strategic national accounts and the acquisition of major project opportunities. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you will lead complex sales projects from initial enquiry through to successful project delivery.

The role combines account management, business development and project sales, making it ideal for an experienced sales professional who thrives on building relationships and securing high-value contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow strategic key accounts, maximising opportunities for long-term business growth.
  • Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities across the warehousing, logistics and storage sectors.
  • Design and develop tailored warehouse storage solutions, including racking, mezzanine floors and multi-product storage systems.
  • Lead high-value projects ranging from £250k to multi-million-pound contracts.
  • Conduct customer visits to understand operational challenges and develop solution-led proposals.
  • Collaborate with Design, Technical, Commercial, Production, Planning and Project Management teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Prepare professional quotations, proposals and presentations.
  • Maintain and manage a structured sales pipeline through CRM systems.
  • Produce accurate sales forecasts, reports and pipeline updates.
  • Travel throughout the UK, and occasionally overseas, to support customer and business requirements.

About You

We're looking for a driven sales professional with a proven track record of winning and delivering large-scale projects.

Essential

  • Successful experience in a field-based, solution-led sales role within warehouse storage, materials handling or warehouse automation.
  • Proven ability to secure high-value projects while delivering profitable results.
  • Strong commercial awareness and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience using CRM systems for pipeline management and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Desirable

  • Existing industry contacts and customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of warehouse automation technologies.
  • Understanding of forklift trucks and materials handling equipment.
