About the Team
Sunderland AFC’s Major Events team delivers safe, high-quality and memorable events at the Stadium of Light and across the club’s wider venues. Working with internal teams, partners, suppliers, and statutory bodies, the team ensures every event is planned and delivered to the highest standard.
This role will lead the planning and operational delivery of major events from concept through to completion, coordinating logistics, safety, stakeholders, and customer experience.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced, organised, and proactive Major Events Manager to lead the planning and delivery of major events that reflect Sunderland AFC’s standards, values, and ambition.

- You will produce event plans, timelines, and operational schedules
- Coordinating logistics including production, security, catering, transport, accreditation, cleaning, staffing, and contractors
On event days, you will act as Event Manager, leading operational teams, overseeing venue readiness, and responding to live issues calmly and effectively.
What We Ask For
- You will have experience planning and delivering large-scale events in a stadium, venue, sports, entertainment, or comparable environment
- Strong operational planning, organisational, and project management skills

You should be confident managing stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and statutory bodies, with a good understanding of event safety, risk management, licensing requirements, and operational compliance.
