Interim Major Applications Team Leader

Rate: Negotiable

Contract: Interim Contract

Location: Stratford-upon-Avon, West Midlands - Hybrid

Duration: 6 Months with the potential for extension

Are you the lead person in Major Applications?

Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Major Applications Team Leader to join a busy Local Authority planning service during a period of significant development activity.

This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing a high-performing Major Applications team and ensuring the timely progression and determination of complex planning applications.

Key responsibilities of the Interim Head of Major Applications includes:

  • Leading a team of Senior Planning Officers and an Assistant Team Leader
  • Managing and supporting a team of planning professionals dealing with major planning applications
  • Ensuring the effective progression of applications through the planning process
  • Providing technical guidance and quality assurance on planning reports and recommendations
  • Signing off officer reports and delegated decisions where appropriate
  • Supporting officers in preparing and presenting applications to Planning Committee
  • Driving performance improvements and helping to expedite decision-making processes
  • Working collaboratively with senior officers, members and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring a high-quality and customer-focused planning service is delivered

To be considered for this opportunity Planning Opportunity, applicants should possess:

  • Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
  • Extensive experience managing major planning applications within a local authority environment
  • Proven experience leading and developing planning teams
  • Significant experience presenting applications and reports to Planning Committee
  • Strong working knowledge of planning legislation, policy and development management processes
  • Experience working within an authority facing significant development pressures and operating without a demonstrable five-year housing land supply would be highly advantageous.
