Are you an organised project professional with a passion for governance, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes? Birmingham City Council is looking for a Major Procurement Programme and Projects Office Practitioner to join our newly established Major Procurement Programmes and Projects Office (MPPPO).

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of high-value procurement programmes that are critical to the Council's future. Working at the heart of programme governance, you'll coordinate reporting, maintain project controls, analyse performance information and help ensure major procurement projects are delivered efficiently, transparently and in line with best practice.

About The Role

As a Major Procurement Programme and Projects Office Practitioner, you'll play a key role in supporting programme governance and delivery by:

  • Coordinating governance meetings, Project Boards and assurance reviews, including agenda planning, minute-taking and tracking actions and decisions.
  • Producing and analysing project reports, dashboards and performance information to support effective decision-making.
  • Maintaining programme risk, issue, dependency and decision logs, ensuring information remains accurate, up to date and actionable.
  • Supporting quality assurance by reviewing procurement documentation to ensure compliance with governance standards before publication.
  • Managing procurement trackers, contract repositories and programme records, ensuring key milestones and project information are accurately maintained.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve project management processes, templates and administrative systems to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Organising programme workshops, review sessions and lessons-learned events to support collaboration and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
