Role Description
The Major Projects Design Engineer is a full-time, remote role responsible for designing complex fire detection & alarm, electronic security, and associated systems for large-scale and multi-panel network projects.

This role includes producing detailed system designs, drawings, and specifications in line with applicable fire safety standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The engineer will collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and contractor partners to interpret project scopes, provide technical input, and support cost estimates and proposals. Day-to-day tasks involve reviewing site information, selecting appropriate system architectures and components, preparing technical documentation, and supporting commissioning and troubleshooting activities. The role also includes coordinating with stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, maintainable, and aligned with full life cycle considerations, including future upgrades and ongoing service needs.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in fire detection and alarm system design, particularly for major projects and intelligent multi-panel networks.
- Strong technical skills in system layout, electrical schematics, and integration of open-protocol fire systems with related building services.
- Knowledge of relevant fire safety codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., national fire alarm and building codes).
- Proficiency with design and documentation tools (e.g., CAD software, modeling tools, and MS Office for reporting and specifications).
- Ability to analyze site data, interpret technical specifications, and develop cost-effective, life-cycle-focused design solutions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal project teams in a remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational abilities to manage multiple large projects simultaneously.
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., degree or diploma in Electrical, Fire, or Building Services Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in the fire and security industry, particularly with open-protocol systems, is highly beneficial.
- Professional certifications in fire system design or engineering (where applicable) are an advantage.
