Estates Leadership Opportunity

Estates leadership opportunity overseeing major capital investment and estate development projects that will shape the future of a prestigious school campus.

About the Role

At Wellington College, we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Major Projects Manager to join our Estates Department. Located in Crowthorne, Berkshire, our 400-acre estate provides a distinctive and inspiring place to work. As a dynamic, ambitious and values-led community, Wellington is committed to providing exceptional facilities for pupils, staff, and visitors, supported by a significant programme of estate investment and development.

Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in delivering a diverse portfolio of capital projects across one of the country's most distinctive educational estates. Working closely with the Group Estates Bursar, senior stakeholders, and external consultants, you will oversee projects from initial concept and feasibility through to completion and handover, ensuring that schemes are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

  • Oversee projects from initial concept and feasibility through to completion and handover
  • Manage complex project programmes, procurement activities, budgets, risks, and stakeholder relationships
  • Provide professional advice on construction, planning, compliance, and project delivery matters
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the College’s Estate Master Plan
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Estates Department

Requirements

The role encompasses major new-build, refurbishment, and sustainability-focused developments that support the College’s long-term strategic ambitions. You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, presenting information to senior audiences, and driving projects forward in a complex operational environment.

  • Substantial experience in construction project delivery
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience gained within estates, education, property, consultancy, or client-side project management environments would be highly beneficial
