We are looking for a talented and passionate Retail Makeup Artist to join a prestigious beauty team within one of London’s most iconic department stores on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced beauty professional who combines strong makeup artistry with exceptional retail customer service and commercial awareness.
The Role
As a Retail Makeup Artist, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, creating personalised makeup looks and providing expert product recommendations based on each client’s individual needs.
You will be confident working in a busy, high-profile retail environment and enjoy building genuine relationships with customers to encourage repeat business and long-term loyalty.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional and personalised makeup applications and consultations.
- Provide an exceptional level of customer service, creating a welcoming and memorable experience for every client.
- Build strong relationships with customers and develop a loyal client base.
- Confidently recommend and sell beauty products based on individual customer needs.
- Achieve and exceed personal sales targets and key commercial KPIs.
- Educate customers on product benefits, application techniques and beauty routines.
- Deliver demonstrations, events, masterclasses and promotional activity when required.
- Maintain excellent product knowledge and stay up to date with makeup trends and techniques.
- Support the wider team in achieving store and business objectives.
- Maintain high standards of presentation, hygiene and visual merchandising.
- Ensure every customer interaction reflects the premium standards of the retail environment.

About You
- Previous experience working as a Makeup Artist within a retail beauty environment is essential.
- Strong makeup artistry skills and confidence delivering a variety of makeup looks.
- Proven experience providing excellent customer service within a fast-paced retail environment.
- Commercially minded with experience working towards sales targets and KPIs.
- Passionate about beauty, makeup and creating exceptional customer experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident building relationships with a wide range of customers and developing repeat business.
- Professional, approachable and well-presented.
- Comfortable working within a prestigious department store and busy retail environment.
- A positive, proactive team player who is passionate about achieving results.
