Role Description

This is primarily a clinical role with a degree of first line management to address service needs.

Responsibilities

• Act as part of a team responsible for providing the efficient daily delivery of the breast imaging service, ensuring that a high standard of patient care is delivered whilst maintaining a quality service to agreed standards.
• Provide a high quality mammographic service, including the screening, symptomatic breast clinics and surveillance and family history programme to the women of Leicestershire and Rutland.
• Adhere to the NHSBSP guidelines including monitoring of the equipment and quality standards.
• Prepare all mammographic equipment prior to using to ensure that equipment is working correctly and safely following agreed protocols.
• Ensure that women attending for Breast Imaging are interviewed in the appropriate manner displaying an encouraging attitude to breast imaging and that women are supported and guided through the mammographic process.
• Assist in the department of systems of work including operational policies and procedures.
• Initiate and make recommendations towards changes in clinical practice for new ways of working.
• Adhere to the NHSBSP Quality Assurance Guidelines for Radiographers and maintain high standards of clinical expertise in all aspects of Breast Imaging.
