MacGregor Black is delighted to be working with an FMCG business in their search for a Cost Accountant / Management Accountant – Costing.
This is a permanent opportunity based fully onsite in Grimsby, offering the chance to take ownership of product costing across the business and play an important role in supporting commercial and operational decision-making.
The business is open to candidates at different stages of their finance career. They would consider an experienced Cost Accountant looking for greater responsibility, as well as a part-qualified or early-career Management Accountant with some costing or manufacturing experience who is keen to develop their skills and progress into a dedicated Cost Accountant position.
You will join the Business Performance team and work closely with Finance, Commercial, Operations, and New Product Development.
Key Responsibilities
Product Costing
- Manage and maintain product costings for new and existing products.
- Develop and maintain costing models and Bills of Material.
- Ensure product cost information is accurate and up to date.

Cost Analysis
- Analyse product costs and provide clear financial information to stakeholders.
- Investigate cost movements and variances.
- Carry out scenario analysis to support commercial and operational decisions.
- Assess the financial impact of raw material alternatives and product changes.
Commercial & NPD Support
- Work closely with New Product Development to understand the cost implications of new products and changes.
- Support the Commercial team with costings for tenders and new business opportunities.
- Provide financial analysis to support business cases and decision-making.
Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Support costing evaluations for continuous improvement projects.
- Assess the financial viability of proposed changes and identify potential opportunities.
- Manage current by-product stocks and approve ad-hoc sales.
- Identify opportunities to improve costing processes, systems, and ways of working.
Projects & Development
- Support ad-hoc finance and business performance projects.
- Help develop more efficient and effective costing processes.
- Build relationships across Finance, Commercial, Operations, and NPD.

About You
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have experience in costing, manufacturing finance, or management accounting, rather than requiring a specific career background.
You may be an experienced Cost Accountant ready to take on more responsibility, or an Assistant/Management Accountant or Finance Analyst with some exposure to costing who is looking for their next step.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience of product costing, manufacturing costing, or cost analysis.
- Experience within FMCG, food, manufacturing, or a similar environment is advantageous.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Good numerical and analytical ability.
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- A qualified, part-qualified, or equivalent finance qualification is desirable.
- The willingness to work fully onsite in Grimsby.
