Management Accountant

Location: Gloucester (Head Office with hybrid working) Salary: Up to £40,000.00 per annum plus benefits Contract: Permanent, full time (8:30am – 5:00pm)


Mears Group, a leading provider of housing and care services in the UK, are seeking a proactive and commercially focused Management Accountant to join their Central Finance team.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified finance professional looking to develop their career in a dynamic, supportive, and interdisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing timely and accurate management accounts
  • Supporting forecasting and budgeting processes
  • Providing valuable financial insights to stakeholders
  • Ensuring financial accuracy and improving efficiency/profittability across multiple branches

Collaboratively, you will help:

  • Smoothly run central accounts
  • Generate high-quality financial reporting and analysis
  • Meet monthly management account deadlines
  • Support quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet control accounts
  • Analyse financial performance, identifying and investigating variances
  • Deliver clear financial insights for both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Handle large data volumes using advanced Excel skills
  • Work with business units to drive efficiency and profitability
  • Ensure accuracy by challenging financial processes and systems

Key Criteria

  • Qualification: CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualified (or near-qualified)
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong IT aptitude
    • Advanced Excel proficiency
    • Ability to analyse and interpret high volumes of data
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Clarity of communication, engaging with non-finance colleagues
    • Professional relationship-building across teams
  • Attitude: Proactive, curious, and personable
