Denbies Wine Estate Ltd, one of England's largest vineyards, is currently recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance Team on a part-time basis.
Denbies Wine Estate is a busy and diverse commercial business incorporating wine production, hospitality, tourism, retail, and events.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Management Accountant who is looking for a flexible part-time position and wants to play an important role in supporting the financial performance and continued development of the business.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO and CEO, you will provide accurate and timely financial information to support the effective management of the business. You will work across monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, cash flow, VAT, and financial analysis, while also helping to improve financial systems and processes.
The role offers flexibility around start and finish times, with the working pattern agreed according to the monthly finance cycle and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts & Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and management information.
- Produce cost reports, reconciliations, and budget variance analysis.
- Assist with cash flow updates and quarterly bank reporting.
- Prepare monthly prepayments and accrued rental income.
- Assist with month-end reconciliations.
- Assist with quarterly VAT reconciliation and review.
- Provide financial reports and analysis to support projects, investments, and expansion plans.
- Monitor expenditure, investigate variances, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Assist the CFO with enhancing financial systems, processes, and reporting.

Year-End & Audit
- Assist with the preparation of the Company's annual accounts.
- Support the external auditors by providing information and documentation as required.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and cash flow.
- Work with Directors and departmental managers to develop budgets and monitor financial performance.
Management Meetings
- Attend monthly management meetings and other meetings as required.
- Provide financial insight and information to support business decision-making.
What we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional who can work confidently and independently.
You will ideally have:
- A professional qualification such as AAT, ACCA, or CIMA, or be part-qualified or qualified by experience.
- Strong experience in management accounting within a commercial environment.
- Good knowledge of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and improving processes.
- The ability to manage deadlines and work effectively around monthly reporting cycles.

This is a part-time, on-site position, working 17.5 hours per week.
