We're looking for a Management Accountant for a fixed 12-month period who can take ownership of a key area within our management accounts, delivering accurate and timely financial information that supports business reporting, decision-making and an efficient month-end close.

We're a group function, supporting a number of businesses and entities across the UK and Europe. You'll join our Management Accounts team as a trusted source of financial information, working with finance, commercial and operational colleagues to understand performance, explain variances and help the business make informed decisions.

The Role

By joining our team you'll:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts including journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Own the reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies proactively
  • Analyse P&L variances and provide clear, insightful commentary for both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Manage your workload effectively throughout the month-end cycle and contribute to a smooth and timely close
  • Maintain accurate working papers and supporting documentation for audit and reporting purposes
  • Contribute to statutory reporting and audit preparation
  • Continue developing your broader commercial awareness, financial expertise and confidence when communicating with stakeholders
  • Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues across Group Finance
  • Use financial systems, Google Sheets, Excel and AI tools where appropriate to improve the quality and efficiency of your work, applying sound judgement throughout
  • Support across UK & Europe, enhancing your understanding of foreign currency transactions

Requirements

What you can bring to our team:

  • Proven experience in management accounting, including ownership of journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Strong knowledge of P&L and balance sheet accounting
  • Proven experience managing a full month-end close cycle for defined areas, delivering accurate outputs to agreed deadlines
  • The ability to analyse P&L variances, identify the underlying drivers and provide clear, insightful commentary
  • Experience taking ownership of accounting discrepancies through to resolution
  • Confidence using financial systems and Google Sheets or Excel. Previous NetSuite experience would be useful but isn't essential
  • Partial or full professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently with finance, commercial and operational stakeholders
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to connect accounting information with business activity and performance
  • A proactive approach to improving the quality, control and efficiency of month-end processes
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, maintain high standards and take accountability for delivering your area of the accounts
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and keeping your technical knowledge current
  • Ideally, you have relevant industry experience to hit the ground running in fixed term the role, travel industry would be beneficial but not essential
