Management Accountant: Stock and Margin

Central London (3 days per week in office) | £60,000 (flex possible) | Retailer | Permanent

A £500 million turnover international Retailer is recruiting a Management Accountant (stock & margin) on a permanent basis. Working in their London HQ, this is a great opportunity for a newly qualified Accountant to work for a fast-growing consumer brand that has grown year on year for the past 5 years in the UK and internationally and operates across multiple channels (retail, ecomm and 3rd party).

Details of the Role

Reporting into the Senior Finance Manager and working in a finance team of 40+, you will take ownership of end-to-end stock and margin accounting. The role has extensive exposure to non-finance stakeholders, business partnering closely with the Inventory Control and Supply Chain teams.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Business partnering with Inventory Control and Supply Chain teams to understand stock and margin variances
  • Completing month-end accounting of stock and margin journals within the month-end timetable
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and stock/margin reporting
  • Prepare information for the board pack, including review and analysis of margins to the previous year
  • Review and analysis of stock loss across all channels
  • Supporting change/automation initiatives — including ERP data integration work to reduce manual processing and increase capacity for business partnering and value-add work

Skills Required:

  • Newly Qualified Accountant (finalist considered as will someone making their first move from practice)
  • Excellent academic record including progressing quickly through studies
  • Strong Excel skills are essential (IFs, SUMIFS, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH)
  • Month-end and balance sheet experience either from accounts prep in practice or from experience working in industry
  • Experience working for a £100 million turnover business with multiple entities
  • Stock and margin experience a plus
