Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a global manufacturing business to recruit a dynamic & hands-on Management Accountant for a 12-month fixed term contract based in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

About the Role

A varied opportunity reporting directly to the UK Finance Manager to support the production of accurate monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with finance colleagues and operational stakeholders to provide clear financial insight and support effective business decision-making.

Key Duties

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet reporting, and supporting commentary
  • Posting and reviewing month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations, analysing actual performance against budget and forecast, explaining key variances clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Supporting annual budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Preparing financial reports and dashboards
  • Assisting with cash flow reporting, working capital analysis and maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Ensuring stock values, standard costs and bills of materials are accurate
  • Supporting project reporting, year-end and audit preparation, along with being involved in ad-hoc projects and financial analysis

Requirements

  • Experience in a similar position, ideally part-qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience
  • Strong MS Excel skills, confident in working with large volumes of financial data
  • Knowledge of financial systems and used to being adaptable to business needs
  • Organised with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced financial environment
  • Team player with a proactive approach and willingness to support improvements
  • Confident communicator, who can build effective working relationships across the business, with a continuous improvement mind-set
  • Experience working within the manufacturing sector with knowledge of stock processes or standard costing, along with ERP systems, including IFS (advantageous, but not essential)
