Job role: Management Accountant

Location: Hertfordshire

Hybrid working: 3 days per week onsite

Salary: £42,082 per annum

Working hours: Mon-Thurs 9-5.30pm and Fri 9-5pm

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

We're looking for a talented Management Accountant to join a leading research organisation and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, robust controls, and meaningful financial insight. This is a great opportunity to join a finance team undergoing positive change and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare management accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Support month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Review financial transactions to ensure accurate analysis and coding.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Maintain accurate financial reporting schedules and timetables.
  • Build effective working relationships across the organisation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.

What you'll bring

  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience within a charity, not-for-profit, research, grant-funded or commercial environment
  • Experience of month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to build effective relationships and manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and financial controls
