Management Accountant – 12-Month FTC

Contract: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract
Working pattern: Hybrid
Working hours: 37 hours a week

We’re looking for a Management Accountant to join our Financial Reporting & Accounting (FR&A) team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important role in supporting the Group Financial Controller and wider Finance team, while gaining valuable experience across management accounting, financial reporting and financial controls.

The role offers a hybrid working environment, combining the flexibility of working from home with regular collaboration with colleagues across the business.

You’ll take ownership of a range of key accounting activities and deliverables, helping to ensure the business has robust, timely and accurate management and financial information.

Responsibilities

As Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and posting month-end journals and provisions to support the accurate and timely delivery of monthly management accounts, including relevant analysis, schedules, variance analysis and commentary.
  • Maintaining fixed asset registers in line with Group accounting policies and procedures, including additions, disposals, project categorisation and depreciation postings.
  • Maintaining Group lease liability reconciliations and ensuring accurate P&L postings in line with FRS 102 lease requirements.
  • Preparing assigned control account reconciliations, identifying potential issues and escalating these to the Group Financial Controller where appropriate.
  • Preparing monthly intercompany reconciliations and ensuring balances agree across all Group entities, including processing intercompany recharges where required.
  • Maintaining General Ledger integrity and supporting the accurate allocation of costs across brands.
  • Preparing monthly bank loan reconciliations.
  • Preparing monthly IT and consultant spend analysis, identifying unusual costs or potential areas of overspend and supporting the Finance team with any related queries.
  • Preparing ONS reports and subsidiary VAT returns.
  • Preparing capital expenditure reporting as required.
  • Reconciling month-end finance reports back to Aderant/TM1 balances, identifying and investigating any variances and working with the Finance Systems team to resolve issues.
  • Supporting junior members of the accounting team, including reviewing workings, reconciliations and journals where required.
  • Supporting the Group Financial Controller throughout the annual audit process, including preparing audit schedules, supporting documentation and analysis.
  • Providing ad hoc financial reporting and accounting support to the Group Financial Controller and Group Finance Director as required.

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • A professional accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Previous experience in a similar management accounting or financial reporting role.
  • Experience within the legal or professional services sector would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, ideally at an intermediate level or above.
  • The ability to work confidently across multiple IT systems and platforms.
  • A genuine desire to develop professionally and contribute to the continued growth of the Finance function.

  • Keen to develop your skills and take on new responsibilities as the role evolves.
