About NECIT
NECIT Services Ltd is an independent inspection, testing and personnel certification organisation based in Durham. We are UKAS accredited as a Type A inspection body to ISO/IEC 17020 and as a personnel certification body to ISO/IEC 17024. We work across the energy, rail, subsea, structural steel and pressure equipment sectors. We were established in 2009.
The role
We are looking for a Management Accountant to own the financial information the Board uses to run the business.
This is not a bookkeeping role. It is not a year end compliance role. It is ownership of the management accounting function: closing the month on time, explaining the numbers, and turning them into decisions.
The role is hands on. You will report directly to the Board and work closely with the management team.

What you will do
- Close the month and produce monthly management accounts to a fixed timetable
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and work in progress adjustments
- Write clear variance commentary for the Board
- Build the annual budget and maintain a rolling forecast
- Maintain a short term cash flow forecast
- Report revenue, cost and margin by service line, client and contract
- Manage credit control and working capital
- Prepare VAT returns and payroll reconciliations
- Prepare year end schedules and act as the main contact for our external accountant
- Operate and improve financial controls
What you will bring

- CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, or finalist with relevant experience
- At least three years in a management accounting role
- A track record of running month end to deadline
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow modelling
- Experience of job or contract costing in a service business
- Strong Excel skills
- Working knowledge of cloud accounting software
- The ability to explain financial information clearly to people who are not accountants
Desirable
- Experience in professional services, engineering, inspection or certification
- Experience with Xero
- Experience of multi entity accounting
The package
This is a full time, office based role in Durham. Salary depends on qualification and experience
