Role Description
The Management Accountant role is a full-time hybrid position based in Basildon, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The role involves preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts, including financial statements, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis. The Management Accountant will monitor financial performance across stores, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and provide analytical insights to help inform business decisions.

Day-to-day tasks include:

- Maintaining accurate accounting records
- Reconciling key balance sheet accounts
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and relevant financial standards
The role also collaborates with store management and senior leadership to:
- Explain financial results
- Support cost control initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement in financial processes
Qualifications
- Strong Accounting and Finance skills, including experience with management accounting and general ledger processes.
- Skills in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and managing Accruals and other period-end adjustments.
- Strong Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, perform variance analysis, and present clear insights.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) part-qualified or qualified, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Excel, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and financial reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a multi-site retail environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Experience in retail or multi-location businesses is beneficial, as is familiarity with inventory and margin reporting.
